Mission:

The Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and their staff provide overall policy and management direction to the department. The commissioner's office oversees the divisions, boards and councils that make up the agency. The commissioner's office works with the legislature to ensure that the governor's and the department's goals and initiatives are met and to ensure that adequate resources are available for the department to carry out its missions.
