Your Alaska concealed handgun permit does not allow you to carry a concealed handgun in another state, unless that state recognizes Alaska permits. It is important for permit holders to understand that when they are traveling in or through another state they are subject to the firearm laws of that state.
However, check the 'Reciprocity' link on the ACHP home page for a list of states that have indicated they will honor Alaska’s permits. Note that this link is updated in the first quarter of every year. Some information may have changed. You should verify the requirements of the state to which you will be moving/traveling before you carry a concealed handgun in that state.
Contact the Canadian Firearms information Office at (800) 731-4000 for information about taking firearms into Canada.
Alaska will honor a valid permit to carry a concealed handgun from another state or subdivision of a state.
