Smithson, age 38 of Wasilla, after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for a moving violation near the intersection of Vine Rd. and Full Curl in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Smithson was operating a motor vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended drivers license. Smithson was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial and remanded into custody with bail set at $5000 plus a CATP. The victim sustained some minor injuries but refused to be seen by the health aide. Snyder fled when he learned that the victim was en route to report the assault. AST is currently in search of Snyder. Snyder is also the subject of an arrest warrant out of Palmer for Failure to Comply with ASAP. The investigation is continuing. State Troopers responded and subsequent investigation revealed that Gusty had shot himself once with a .22 long rifle Ruger pistol. The Stony River Health Aide responded and pronounced Gusty deceased at about 1840 hours. Gusty reportedly had been consuming alcohol before the incident. Next of kin was notified. State Medical Examiners Office personnel were notified and requested Gusty be transported to Anchorage for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected. The driver of the vehicle was identified as William Albert Turk, 31, of Fort Wainwright. Investigations revealed Turks driver's license was suspended for a point system suspension. Turk was issued a summons for one count of Driving with a Suspended Operators License and a ticket for Speeding. Turk's vehicle was released to a friend. The vehicle was later located in the Healy area by AST. The driver was identified as Steven Lynn Burdick, 56, of Crawford Colorado. Investigation led to the arrest Burdick on one count of Driving While Intoxicated. Burdick was booked into the Fairbanks Correctional Center on the charge of DUI. Investigators contacted Richard Patterson, age 30, of Noorvik, at a residence. Investigation revealed Patterson was operating his ATV under the influence of alcohol, was in violation of his conditions of probation, and in possession of a useable amount of marijuana. Patterson was subsequently arrested and was transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was remanded on the charges of DUI, MICS 6th Degree, and PTRP. The Trooper had prior knowledge that Laws did not have a valid driver's license. Laws was issued a misdemeanor citation for NVOL and released. The vehicle was released to a licensed passenger. Text: On 04-28-12, at 2311 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team attempted to stop a 1990 Honda Accord near mile 33 of the Glenn Hwy. for multiple moving violations. The Hondas driver, later identified as Patrick O. Moore, age 31, of Willow failed to stop at the direction of Troopers and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued at a high rate of speed approaching the downtown district of Anchorage. Members of the Anchorage Police Department were able to deploy spike strips ahead of the pursuit and Moore's vehicle struck the spikes causing the deflation of at least one tire. Due to Moore's reckless driving in downtown Anchorage, Troopers discontinued the pursuit, but quickly located the Honda abandoned at the intersection of Cordova St. and 5th Ave. Anchorage Police located Moore at the Sheraton Hotel, where he was taken into custody. Moore was found to have a small amount of methamphetamines in his possession and was also driving on a revoked driver's license. Moore was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected. Moore was transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on the charges of failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer in the 1st degree, misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 4th degree, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, driving with a revoked driver's license and on his active warrant. Total bail total for Moore was set at $27,500 cash only along with a court approved third party. Troopers would like to thank the Anchorage Police Department for their assistance in the successfully termination and apprehension during the pursuit. Troopers are further asking for the assistance of the public in locating witnesses to the pursuit. Troopers would like to speak with anyone who observed Moore's manner of driving during the pursuit. Investigation revealed that Hershey R. Haney, age 22, of Palmer, was operating a green 1999 Saturn car traveling southbound on the Parks Highway when she struck the rear of a silver 2000 Buick car driven by Allen L. Hassen, age 69, of Wasilla causing him to cross the centerline of the Parks and strike a 2003 red Honda motorcycle traveling northbound, being operated by Alfred D. Letendre, age 65, of Wasilla. Hassen was stopped on the Parks Highway waiting to turn left onto Stanley Road. Total damage estimates for the Buick is $4000.00, the Honda is $1500.00, and the Saturn was totaled. Letendre and his passenger, Louise A. Letendre, age 62, of Wasilla were thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. EMS responded and transported Letendre and his wife to Mat-Su Regional Hospital. All parties reported wearing their safety belts and Haney was cited for Failure to Exercise Due Care.
