A Detachment -------------------------------------------- Location: Gustavus Case number: 12204214 Type: Death Natural Causes Text: On 4/26/12 at approx 1148 hours, Glacier Bay National Park Ranger Gus Martinez contacted Juneau AST and reported a death in Gustavus. Investigation revealed that Glenn Chunn, age 43 of Gustavus, was working outside a residence in Gustavus when he collapsed to the ground and was having trouble breathing. Gustavus EMS responded to the scene and provided emergency aid to Chunn. Chunn had died of a suspected medical condition. There was no sign of foul play and the body was released to the next of kin. Hale, age 31 of Wasilla, as the driver of a tan 1987 Chrysler LeBaron during a traffic stop far an equipment violation on Big Lake Road. Investigation revealed Hale was driving while his license was suspended for failure to comply with financial responsibility. Hale was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court at a later date and released at the scene. Investigation revealed David Gilligan, age 40 of Wasilla, had been on the property of mile 49 Tesoro and Holiday Gas Stations in Wasilla. Gilligan was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was held on $500 bail. Upon arrival, the vehicle was unoccupied. AST was able to locate the driver Sarah Miller age 22 of Tazlina at her residence. Investigation revealed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had been driving Eastbound at Mile 110 Richardson Hwy when she lost control and drove off into the trees on the Westbound side of the highway. Miller was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident and a citation for failure to show proof of insurance. Miller was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and was uninjured. The initial report indicated that a 24 year-old female from Chevak reported that she was sexually assaulted by a 39 year-old male, also from Chevak. A subsequent investigation resulted that the alleged sexual assault could not be substantiated. While responding Troopers observed a gray 2005 Ford F250 rolled over in the ditch near the Otmeloi Way and Hilltop Drive intersection. The investigation revealed that Peter Meliah, age 48 of Kodiak, was involved in the domestic disturbance, attempted to leave, and was involved in the motor vehicle collision. Meliah returned to the residence where he was contacted by Troopers. Further investigation revealed Meliah had been consuming alcohol prior to the collision and was Driving While Impaired. Meliah was arrested for DUI, transported, and remanded to Kodiak Police Department Jail where bail was set at $500. Author: RAC2 Received Thursday, April 26, 2012 2:26 PM and posted Thursday, April 26, 2012 2:24 PM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Aniak Case number: AK122004282 Type: Suicide Text: On 4-26-12, at about 1955 hours, Aniak based Alaska State Troopers received a report from Aniak 911 dispatch personnel that an unknown individual locked themselves in a room inside of an Ikmiq Court residence. The caller reported to the dispatcher that a gun was missing and a single shot was fired from inside the locked room. State Troopers immediately responded. Subsequent investigation revealed 38 YOA Clinton Henry Morgan of Aniak had locked himself inside his bedroom and shot himself with a rifle. Clinton was pronounced deceased on scene. Clinton is being transported to Anchorage for an autopsy at the direction of the State Medical Examiners Office. Alcohol was not a factor in this incident and next of kin was notified. No foul play is suspected. The subject is currently on Felony Probation out of the Bethel Adult Probation Office. Incident to the contact, numerous items suggesting the distribution of controlled substances were seized. A urinalysis was conducted which resulted in a positive indication for the usage of marijuana by the probationer. The items were seized from the home and a case report will be forwarded to the Bethel APO for possible revocation of probation. Incident to the contact, a single 750ML bottle of alcohol was seized. Contact was made with the occupants of the home. 4 additional 750ML bottles of alcohol were seized along with the $50.00 used to purchase the alcohol. It was learned that the subject contacted outside of the home is currently on Felony Probation out of the Bethel Court with Alcohol Restrictions. Charges will be forwarded to the Bethel Court on both subjects. The Bethel Office of Adult Probation has been notified. Incident to the contact, Uisok was placed under arrest for DUI after performing unsatisfactorily on FST's. A PBT was administered which showed a BrAC of .105. During his arrest, Uisok was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana which was seized. Usisok was transported to Bethel and remanded at YKCC pending arraignments on 4/24/2012. On 4/25/2012 Uisok pled to the DUI charge and was sentenced to 6 months/0 suspended, with a $4000.00 fine. Investigation complete. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: North Pole, AK Case Number: AK12204126 Type: MVC I Text: On 4/25/12 at 1716 hours AST received a report of a single vehicle versus moose crash on Badger Road near Burgess Airstrip Road. The Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol responded. Investigation revealed that a 2005 Buick LeSabre driven by Margie Simms (47 YOA, North Pole) was traveling towards North Pole on Badger Road when a moose ran out in front of her. Witnesses to the crash confirmed that Simms did not have time to react to the moose as it emerged from the trees and ran into the roadway as Simms drove around the corner. Simms was seat belted. She received several injuries in the crash and was treated at FMH. Potter was contacted after he was stopped near the Old Richardson Highway and Wescott Lane for speeding. Potter was issued the citation to appear in court at a later date. Clauson (26 YOA, Fairbanks) for Vehicle Theft 1st Degree, DUI and driving while her license was suspended. A patrol trooper stopped Clauson on Farmer's Loop Road near View Pointe Drive for failure to stop at a stop sign. Investigation revealed that Clauson was impaired by alcohol while operating the vehicle. She was also found to be operating without a valid license. Her license is in a suspended status for a DUI in California. The owner's of the vehicle were contacted and AST learned the vehicle had been stolen from their residence off of Skyline Drive by Clauson. Clauson was remanded to FCC without bail.
