Investigation revealed Hummer was in possession of several sets of metal knuckles and switchblades. The weapons were seized and Hummer was issued misdemeanor citations to appear in court at a later date and released at the scene. Investigation revealed that Amil E. Carter Jr., age 27 from Buckland, had assaulted a family member by placing her in fear of injury, strangling her, and slamming her into a wall. The snowmachine was taken on 4/7/12. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle on a local river and on 4/8/12, the vehicle was recovered in Akiachak. Frankson was contacted in the entryway of Maniilaq Health Center. The two Pepsi's were found hidden inside his jacket. Frankson was remanded to the Kotzebue Regional Jail for theft 4th degree. Subsequently, troopers responded to Nunapitchuk to investigate and arrived there at about 1245 hours. As a result of the investigation, troopers learned that Justin D. Nick, age 19, of Nunapitchuk, had taken his own life as he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at about 1130 hours. As a result of the warrant service, a commercial marijuana grow consisting of 50 marijuana plants was seized, along with related growing equipment. Two suspects were identified. O'Neil, age 39, of Port Protection, guilty of Manslaughter for the death of Tracy G. Simpson, age 54, of Port Protection, after a 10 day long trial in Craig, Alaska. On 8/18/11 a Grand Jury in Ketchikan indicted Ronald L. O'Neil for Murder in the Second Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and DUI; however, he was found not guilty in those charges. Sentencing is scheduled for 7-24-12. This conviction stems from the investigation of the Alaska State Troopers back in 8/7/11 when they traveled to Port Protection after receiving a report of a possible death on a float house near Port Protection at the North end of Prince of Wales Island. During the early morning hours of 8/8/11, Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Klawock Post arrived in Port Protection and contacted Ronald L. O'Neil as he was operating a skiff, which was towing a second skiff. Found in the second skiff was the body of an adult male who was later identified as Tracy G. Simpson. Investigation revealed that O'Neil was under the influence and was taken into custody for DUI, Murder in the 2nd Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation-Major Crimes Unit in Anchorage responded to conduct an investigation. O'Neil was incarcerated at the Ketchikan Correctional Center. Investigation revealed Keri Lee Koch, age 36 of Fairbanks, was driving his ATV on the roadway while impaired and under the influence of alcohol. Further, that his 5 year old daughter was a passenger. The girl was injured in the crash and was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment. Koch fought with and caused injury to the initial responding trooper.
