Help Wanted
 Recruitment has been a hot topic surrounding both the Alaska State Troopers
and the Village Public Safety Officer program. The exceedingly unique duties of these jobs make recruiting easy in the respect that it attracts many applicants.
Where the job takes people to in real life can make it difficult to retain quality individuals over the long run.
Any given recruitment cycle can draw in between 900 and 2500 applications for trooper positions. From there, approximately 100 to 250 actually complete the application process
by filling out the background check paperwork- which is approximately 40 pages thick.

Standing Out Among His People
When Alivn Jimmie Sr. stepped up to receive his award at the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention banquet on Saturday, Oct. 24, before him sat many of his peers and a large number of movers and shakers in Alaska.
To Jimmie, he was not only winning the first ever Glenn Godfrey Law Enforcement Award, but he was given a golden opportunity to tout the Village Public Safety Officer Program and ask for more support.

Alaskans face the tragedy of sexual assault more than residents in any other state in the union. There isn’t one
type of victim. Crime statistics document men, women and children as falling victim to this disturbing type of
crime. Statistics also show there is not an age barrier or a class that is immune to sexual assaults.
